DIY Lace Shorts, Scalloped Top and Collar

I posted an image of a pair of gorgeous scalloped lace hem shorts from The Velvet Bow a few days ago, and was so happy to see the whole outfit up on Jessie's blog. Was very interested to learn that these outfits have been made from thirfted recycled clothes. This is a perfect example of my favourite type of DIY, turning run of the mill items into gorgeous pieces. Just add lace, bows, scalloping and the right colour palette and way you go. I especially love the scalloped hem top. Jessie says on her blog that she is getting more and more into DIY and I am dying to see her future creations!

 

Missing my sewing machine...

I saw these very very pretty shorts on The Velvet Bow's twitter, and I am in love. Even though we are going into winter in London my mind is still somewhere in mid-summer... Seeing beautiful things like this that have been handmade makes me pine for my lovely sewing machine in Brisbane, three years is really too long not to have one. I am all about easy and simple DIYs but if you are going to invest in anything make it a good sewing machine, the options for DIY are endless once you have one, and they really are very simple to use. Hong Kong here I come, I'll have to get one when I get there!

DIY for the Southern Hemisphere - Shorts

For those of you going into Summer, DIY yourself some scalloped or lace hemmed shorts like the lovely Jessie of The Velvet Bow did. In both cases she made the shorts out of trousers, which is the best way to go! Soo pretty! See here for my tutorial for lace hemmed shorts.

DIY - Front Scalloped Shorts

There are usually so many pairs of unwanted high-waisted pants in the op shop, usually with an unflattering wide leg. Lucky I keep coming up with ideas about how to DIY them! This looks like a simple snip and sew job.

Sping Scalloping

Obsessed with scalloping at the moment, thinking about doing a bit of a DIY with some pants I have - making some scalloped shorts. Would probably involve shortening the pants and creating a scalloped hem. Queens wardrobe are doing am amazing job of copying Chloe's best pieces.
