The Balmain 2012 Resort collection was filled with DIY inspiration - draped chains, embellished jackets, thigh high split skirts, and boots with gold embellished points. I have a million ideas about little DIYs to do based on these gorgeous pieces.

DIY Studded Bib Necklace
Thursday, March 31, 2011 at 7:12 AM
Gosh this necklace is cool in another one of Vanessa Jackman's amazing pics. Perfect mix of cute pastel pink and edgy studs. When I was in London I bought these crazy studded leather arm cuffs from the jumble, and I have held onto them because I knew I would see a project like this for which I could use them. Next project? A studded bib necklace of course.
DIY Thimble Studded Collar and Cuffs

I'm definitely not sick of oversized studs like the ones adorning this jacket. You could make your own by buying a whole heap of thimbles you would use for hand sewing, spray painting them gold, and then attaching them to a jacket using a glue gun.

This would have made all my DIY dreams come true as a little girl... Does this take you back? Thanks to my best friend in Brisbane for bringing this to my attention, now where can I find one?
DIY Stud Bow Tie

This spike stud is such a simple addition to an otherwise cute bow tie, with a really edgy affect. Love! Thanks to Shini of Park and Cube for the pics.
DIY Studded Pumps

I'm totally lusting over the beautiful studded pumps that Peony made recently. She admitted to getting a helping hand from her bf to do the more technical part of the studding, and I must say I am very prone to getting a hand from my bf when I need a bit of muscle. I hope Peony wears these at some stage during LFW! Am so happy to have inspired Peony to get crafty.
DIY bow top

One of my favourite DIY bloggers, Phosphene Fashion, has done a collaboration with the amazing online store M&J Trimmings (the only place to buy all your DIY bits and bobs online). I am soooo in love with the top, the bow and the nailhead studded collar. To. Die. For. A little bit of Jason Wu AW11 no? Head to M&J Trimmings blog for the tutorial - its well easy innit?
DIY Blogger Discovery - Rar Traum Store
Sunday, February 6, 2011 at 5:59 AM
Have discovered another amazing DIY blog - Rar Traum Store. The lovely Gabriela contacted me and mentioned that she did a few DIYs... I checked out her blog and Phoahhhh! I think you would probably call her work designing rather than DIY - its a hell of a lot more than a slapdash craft project. What I particularly like about her work is her ability to take a piece of junk - even things she finds in the trash or in scrap bins - and turn them into something utterly amazing. She has made some amazing jewellery using stones, crushed glass, scrap metal and just about everything else, and I adore her crazy denim jacket - very Balmain. My favorite piece of hers is an amazing deconstructed clock. Head over to her blog and check it out yo.

DIY Blogger Discovery - Love Aesthetics
Friday, January 7, 2011 at 10:26 PM
Stumbled upon the most amazing blog this morning that I just had to share with you. Ivania of Love Aesthetics has the coolest vintage style, and a whole cache of utterly inspired (and simple) DIYs. Nothing seems too difficult for her! I am particularly inspired by her two tone silk shirt, her knotted tees and bolt jewellery, the white branch clothing rack (amazing!) and the zipper jacket. Head over to her blog and take some time to enjoy its clean and simple lines, Ivania's covetable style and her ability to pull off just about any colour lipstick.

DIY Zanotti Heels
Sunday, December 19, 2010 at 4:34 AM
OM-effing-G I have just come across one of the best DIYs I've seen in a very long time. The lovely bloggette from A Matter of Style let me know about these amazing Zanotti inspired heels she made out of a pair of Primark shoes by drawing up a pattern and cutting them out. Head over to her blog and have a look at a few of her other DIYs, this is one of many.

DIY Studded Leather Reconstructed Dress
Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at 1:40 AM
This is the most amazing studded leather dress I have ever seen, is it just me or does fashion just keep moving more and more towards looking like you could do it yourself? The skirt on this dress looks like its been made out of a thriefted leather bomber jacket. I am sure there is A LOT more technique to it than that but it does inspire me to get in and have a go.

DIY Clutch Bag Hand Harness
Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at 1:49 AM
Spotted these images on Because I'm Addicted and fell in love wirth the studded hand harnesses. I am going to add my own to a thrifted clutch using some studded leather and a glue gun. For a more polished look, cut two slits into the front of the bag and thread both ends of the leather through, gluing on the underside.

DIY on the Runway - Balmain SS11
Friday, October 1, 2010 at 5:57 AM
Just when you thought studs, zips, safety pins and the like had been done to death, the master of DIY inspired designs comes out with a collection that completely ups the ante. Just as he inspired a million studded blazers in 2009, I can foresee a major punk safety pin trend taking off again. Whilst not highly original, it makes it easy for DIY enthusiasts like me (and you hopefully) to be on trend! My favourite outfit is the second one down - all back with silver embellishments on the shoulders and arms of the blazer. DIY that shiz!
Heres a few things to take away from this collection:
Update: Have slept on it and decided I am in love....

Heres a few things to take away from this collection:
- Safety pins are back (again). go.buy.now. spray paint gold or black and attach to thrifted blazers to emphasise shoulders
- Black paint applied haphazardly to blood red jeans is killer
- Red, black and denim together is the way of the future
- Keep your denim cut offs, maybe even rip them a little more?
- Destroyed tees are still on the radar.

DIY at LFW - Spiked Leggings
Sunday, September 19, 2010 at 4:19 AM
The spiked leggings looked amazing when I spotted them in the press room of LFW. They weren't DIY but they looked pretty DIYable. Buy some spikes from Studs and Spikes on Ebay, making sure to get large conical ones that have a screw- attach them to thick opaque tights or leggings.
DIY Spiked Headband

This is another great take on the Givenchy spiked headband. For some reason spikes are totally still doing it for me - hope I'm not too last season....
